XBox price drop. Facebook buys Oculus. Reading Rainbow is coming back! It's amazing how much can change in just a month (especially with E3 just days away), but not only in video games. Over the past 30 days, my own personal life has seen an enormous amount of change. While I can't talk about all of it just yet, here are a few things that I can:
In case you haven't seen it yet, I went to PAX East with my Rabbid and I took some photos to prove it! You can check out the albums in the Dapper Pixel Facebook page.
Now that I've been able to find some free time, I finally got the chance to start a new game, Guacamelee. I'm only an hour in, but it has two things going in its favor: it's a Metroid-Vania game, and damn is it colorful! I'll have more formal words about it in another post, but it does feel great to play games again.
I've also dedicated time each day to reading again. My father was an avid comic book reader of X-Men, Superman, and Batman when I was a kid. While I read a lot of his collection, I didn't go back to comics until 2-3 years ago when I started reading The Walking Dead. Mainstream comics don't interest me much, but I heard about Chew a while ago, and was lucky enough to get the Omnivore Edition for my birthday. A detective story about food (or eating anything to be exact), how could I say no to that.
And as a last bit of news, if you haven't heard, the third annual Boston Festival of Indie Games will be held in Boston on September 13th. It's a great event dedicated to the independent table top and video game scene in the New England region, and I can't recommend it enough!
And as much as things change, there are those things that stay the same: I'm still working hard on new content, Game of Thrones is still off the walls crazy, and Battlefield 4 multiplayer is still unplayable... GLHF!
